Seminars - Staff Training 2003

With the objective of constantly maintaining a high-level of services offered in foreign language education, the Director of the European Center for Language Studies, Mrs. Irene-Miranta Merkouri, once again this year organized an educational seminar for her staff at her language school in March.

The seminar lasted for five days and consisted of a first phase - analysis of lesson planning methods, evaluation and implementing of teaching material, and lesson preparation from each teacher, and a second phase – teacher observation, lesson and methodology evaluation, and individual interview with each teacher for the lesson procedure.


The seminar presenter was the distinguished English teacher and teacher trainer Mr. OLIVER SANDON, with 16 years of experience in foreign language education

Mr. SANDON has taught and trained teachers in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the USA and cooperates with the University of Cambridge in the UK, with regards to the acquisition of the "CELΤΑ" diploma in France, Spain, and S. Africa as well as the undertaking of oral examinations in English in the region of W. Greece - ESOL exams. The teaching program at the European Center for Language Studies will continue with periodic seminars and re-evaluations for the staff during 2004 and 2005.

Remaining activities for the first and second quarters of the 2003-2004 educational year:
The European Center for Language Studies - Miranta Merkouri, apart from the ongoing participation of teachers in educational seminars and exhibitions in other cities of Greece, had also another active year of cultural events. We characteristically mention the beginning-of-the-year pie cutting at our establishment and the successful dance at the “VERSUS" club in our city.
