Paris, the city of light, considered by many to be the most beautiful city in the world, was chosen by the European Center for Language Studies – Miranta Merkouri as the place of residence for the summer period of academic year 2002-2003.

The international boarding house "Residence International Louis Lumiere" inside Paris, known for its comfortable accommodation, tasty cuisine and excellent organization, was where students and their chaperone Mrs. Irene-Miranta Merkouri resided for eight days.

With the constant escort of the official guide of the French state, who bridged French history and tradition in a unique manner, the students and Mrs. Merkouri went sightseeing al lover Paris; such as the picturesque Monmartre with the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur, the Place Vendome and the Place de la Concorde, the Arc de Triomphe from where the Grands Boulevards begin, like the Champs-Elysees – Etoile, the striking Invalid Building, the Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral, the Opera, the Pantheon, the Tour Eiffel, the Trocadero, the Saint Germain neighborhood, the Sorbonne University and the elegant Jardins de Luxembourg park. From the French countryside, the students also had the chance to visit the “Garden of France”, the famous Loire Valley, to tour one of the most important castles-towers in the region – the Chateau de Chambord and the Chateau de Blois, to enjoy the Chateau de Versailles castle and gardens, and enjoy a wonderful day full of surprises at Eurodisney.
Furthermore, there were lovely nights at bistros and coffee shops in Monmartre, Quartier Latin, Le Marais district, the Champs-Elysees – Etoile, and the Bastille, shopping at the Galeries Lafayette and a boat ride on the Seine River, under its legendary bridges. All this made the trip to Paris an unforgettable experience for the students and Mrs. Merkouri.
